Nancy Cyr has served the Nebraska Legislature since 1981. Currently, Cyr is the Senior Legal Counsel for the Nebraska Legislative Research Office, a position she has held since 1992. As legal counsel, she provides nonpartisan legal and policy research for Nebraska legislators and staff. Previously, Cyr served in the bill drafting office, first as a bill drafter; then as Assistant Revisor of Statutes.
Active in NCSL for over 20 years, she is a member of the Legal Services Staff Section, where she has held several leadership positions and received the staff section’s achievement award in 2007. Additionally, she has been a member of the NCSL Executive Committee and served as staff vice-chair of the Redistricting and Elections Committee.
Cyr received her BA and JD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She and her husband, Doug, have two sons and reside in Lincoln, Nebraska.
