American Society of Legislative Clerks and Secretaries
42nd Professional Development Seminar Reno, Nevada
October 1-6, 2008
This year the American Society of Legislative Clerks and Secretaries (ASLCS) will hold its Annual Professional Development Seminar in Reno, Nevada. The ASLCS seminar brings together participants from across the country and internationally to learn important skills and procedures, build relationships, and bring home new ideas aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of America’s state legislatures. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit the Capitol in Carson City and learn about history and traditions of our host state.
What This Seminar Covers
Legislative clerks, secretaries and their staffs work in a unique environment for which little formal training is available. The American Society of Legislative Clerks and Secretaries (ASLCS) responds to these training needs by offering a seminar emphasizing the development of professional skills. The purposes of the ASLCS Professional Development Seminar are to improve the administrative and parliamentary effectiveness of state legislatures, to develop procedures to enhance lawmaking, and to provide a forum where legislative staff can meet and learn from their counterparts in other states.
