On Wednesday, June 11, the first in a series of DQC web-based seminars on data and data quality was held.  In this session, the following items took place:

  • Discussed the types of key policy questions that can only be answered with longitudinal data.
  • Learned why it is important to connect P-12 to higher education data and back again to ensure college and career readiness.
  • Heard about ways to improve the USE of longitudinal data in order to improve student achievement. (It’s not enough to just collect the data.)
  • Found out how these systems can be built and utilized all while protecting student privacy.

Speakers included:

Nancy Smith, Deputy Director, Data Quality Campaign
Corey Chatis, Director of Data Quality at TN Department of Education
Donald Houde, Chief Information Officer at AZ Department of Education
